Verify:

If you don't know if you're connected to a master file then you're probably not.  The reason that we still use ecco is for the ease of sharing ecco on a lan.  If there is a master file with remotes, the master must keep track of all changes to each remote file and grows in size.  The remotes must be opened to allow the master to release the stored data an return to a normal size. 

Can you export the data fields?  If so, export them, open a fresh copy of ecco and import them.  Sometimes it's just necessary to start over.  

I don't know if there are any true tech support types out there these days.  Ecco (a great little app) was killed off (discontinued) in 1998.

Dec 21011.  I'm not sure what you mean by large text fields - if you mean an appointment entry which consists of several lines of text with a few subitems, then yes, I got rid of those too. 

In answer to an earlier question from you Steve, I don't know if my ecco is connected to a master file.  How do I find out?

In answer to r634718 I'm afraid I don't know what the tray item is and can't
find reference
to that or to 'Show memory info' in the Ecco Help notes.  I've deleted a few Notepads (I assume not Calendar or Phonebook as I don't think they can be deleted) -  and now only have Completed Work (1214 items), How to use this file (no idea how big), Search Results (empty) and Scratch in addition to Calendar and Phonebook.
