Thanks, r634718 -- I think you're right.  On further testing, I've found 
that the dialog box only appears if you change the date or time of an 
event or if you try to delete it. Unfortunately, it does not appear (for 
me) when you change the text -- and, yes, that is what I would like it 
to do.  For example, I have an untimed daily recurring appointment where 
the text is "Weather" and at the end of day I'd like to change that text 
(for that day only) to say something about that day's weather.

Does anyone have a workaround for this type of text change?  I'm 
thinking I'll just have to forget the recurrence feature and copy the 
item forward for every day to, for example, the end of the month.
