Lindsay ...

Just to do a test. Would you be so kind and do a test if a
Birthday set as TLI (Top Level Item) and not as subitem would give
you the result you wish?

Thanks for your replies -- this post
deals just with the first query about Birthdays.

The first image below is an example from my PhoneBook.
The subitems that have a date in the Birthday column
used to show up in my Calendar view, as is the case for
Arch GRAHAM's birthday (actually his death anniversary)
-- see the second image. But the PhoneBook subitem for
Colin GRACE does not appear in the Calendar view (I've
not bothered to provide an image for that page), and
I've not been able to figure out why and, more
importantly, how to get it into the Calendar view.

r634718 -- hope this is clearer. Any ideas?

Friedhelm -- when I click on the Birthday date for Colin
GRACE, I set the recurring date and Tickler view (I
don't use Alarms in this context) but still get nothing
in the Calendar view.

The annoying thing is that this worked when I first set
it up years ago ... so why not now?

The clean and easy solution
is creating a "Date Folder" called Birthday and adding
the folder as a "Date Column" (see picture). We
organize all Birthday in ascending order and if
somebody arrives new my wife even adds the exact time
and weight at birth (see Elliot Powel). Click the
Birthday Column and you can add the recurring date,
the view in Tickler and any Alarms you wish (mailing
greetings to relatives overseas requires at least 8
days). All Birthdays show up in the Ecco Calendar on
my Desktop, in MyPhoneExplorer and on my Android
Calendar with Alarms ringing at the right time ;-)

I used Ecco for many years,
then gave it away for most things and have only
just started reusing it with EccoExt (on Windows
8.1 64-bit). But I'm having trouble remembering
how I set some things up earlier. I hope these
explanations are clear and that someone can get
me back on the straight and narrow.

First -- in my PhoneBook, I have many subitems
where the item text contains a name and the
Birthday column has a date (say 19/11/1943) in
it. In my Calendar view, there's a Birthdays
heading in the Ticklers section and the item
text from the PhoneBook appears with date
19/11/2014 and Recurrence "Every 19 Nov". I
can't for the life of me figure out how to get
newly added birthday subitems in the PhoneBook
to appear in the Calendar -- obviously, I used
to be able to do it and I'm sure there is a very
simple answer.

Second -- I have a Work Plan Notepad where one
of the columns is Start Date. When I have no
filter applied to the PhoneBook view, all items
from the Work Plan appear in the Ticklers
section of the PhoneBook under the heading Start
Dates. But when I apply a simple filter to show
only recent Start Dates, all other data in the
PhoneBook view (ie, other Ticklers and all
Appointments) disappear. What am I missing?
