A not oft' mentioned but awesome email client is Zimbra. They have a free "Zimbra Desktop" version.
There use to be several, but AFIK it is the only email client on the market that can do not only POP and IMAP, but also does gmail (without using POP), yahoo, and several other mail services. And for yahoo, you don't even have to have a premium account! You can have as many accounts active as you want and mix any type.
It has lots of other stuff too besides the pretty decent email client like access to google calendar, tasks etc.
There are better clients out there, but none that I know of that can do yahoo mail without premium service. So if you use any yahoo email accounts, this might be your best choice.
The only negative is that their development responsiveness sucks. They only have a new version with bug fixes come out maybe once a year. So if you have a bug, it's a long wait to get it fixed.
However, in the last few years, it's matured a lot and I've seen fewer critical bugs. Now and then though, yahoo changes something and it makes Zimbra yahoo accounts fail. If that happens you end up waiting a very long time for a fix.
Only other complaint is that the program hogs a huge amount of RAM.
But... it is very very useful.
