Thanks so much for the suggestion.
I was able to get the program to run using the Scan Off technique as well.
My remaining issue is that my version of McAfee is delivered via ATT [free as part of my internet service] and the Add File option in Excluded Files is not present.
Sounds like I need to either change Anti-Virus providers or limit Ecco Pro to occassional historical info retrieval.
Unless someone else has a better idea...

As it happens, I solved this myself just yesterday.
When the problem started the day before, I first sought confirmation from Friedhelm & Co. that the file McAfee had identified as a Trojan was not one in fact. He wasn't in a position to take full responsibility for my situation, but gave enough assurance -- overnight -- for me to tackle the problem. I'm most grateful for this.
After trying a few things, I called the McAfee help line and had a remote-control session with them. The tech ended up telling me that if I wanted to use EccoX there was nothing I could do but turn the Real-Time Scanning function off all the time I was using it (!) -- which would of course greatly expose my computer to viruses and malware.
I eventually figured out the following procedure:
Went to McAfee Home>Virus and Spyware Protection>Real-Time Scanning, clicked Turn Off -- set timer for 30 !
minutes.Went to Navigation>Features>Quarantined and Trusted Items>Quarantined Items, and Restored the quarantined file.Freshly downloaded EccoX from the CompuSol site to C\EccoPro64 -- not sure if this is always necessary, but it seemed to be in my case.
n. B., this would not work till I had Uninstalled EccoX in Control
Panel, and I needed to put in my Product Code for the reinstall.Reinstalled EccoX from C\EccoPro64Went to McAfee Home>Virus and Spyware Protection>Real-Time Scanning. I turned Real-Time Scanning back on -- otherwise it would not let me get to the Excluded Files section -- to see which, by the way, you have to collapse the Settings section.I was afraid Real-Time Scanning would quarantine the file again before I could take further action. But in the Excluded Files section I hit Add File, quickly browsed to C:\Program Files (x86)\ECCO\Eccoext.exe, and added that into the Excluded Files section.
That did the trick. Here's a partial screenshot of how it looks in the end:
I've rather dashed this off, so if anything is unclear, please feel free to get back to me.
Best regards,
