Migrating Ecco to a new pc

I have not used Ecco synchronization in several years.
Now I have a new laptop and a desktop. Both are running Windows 7
Ecco is currently installed on the desktop. The EccoPro extension v4.6.7.7 is also installed.
My plan is to install Ecco on the laptop and the extension
Then create (I think Ecco calls them replication files?) on the laptop and copy them to the desktop.

After I install Ecco on the laptop I will move all the existing .eco and .ecg, and .ecb files from the desktop to the laptop.

 My questions:
Q1.) When I create the replication files on the laptop, I assume I copy them to a folder on the desktop?

Q2.) The desktop has been running Ecco for over a year. There are lots and lots of alarms set. Once I open a replication file on the desktop I assume I'll end up with many duplicate alarms. How do I handle this?
