​Have you ever looked into Zoot. It's downloadable at zootsoftware.com. I
believe a free trial is available.

The creator Tom Davis is always improving the program and extremely
responsive....almost unbelievably so.

I actually have basically replaced Ecco for Zoot...although as a pure
outliner, Ecco is still useful to me...

Zoot has some great features that allow you to organize projects and your
life in general...

Outlining as a hierarchy of folders is possible....There are also "Outline"
folders in which items can be arranged ad an outline; folders can be of
various types...task, calendar, note, outline, email, web, document,
file... It syncs with Outlook and your email account..


 But a learning curve is definitely involved... It's an amazing program.​
