Thanks Pastor Don.  I just renamed the bk1 and bk2 file extensions, at the root directory, eco.  Got the exact same result - "The master data file has been restored from a backup and is incompatible with this file."  I get that result even when I try to open files created years ago in ECCO 32 bit.    I did a search of all my hard drives ecco.cfg, ecco.cfx and ecco.alm files, and just for *.cfg, *.cfx and *.alm files.  Nothing.  Looks like I may be out of luck, but I certainly haven't given up.  There's gotta be an answer out there somewhere.  Possibly if someone has a more current license key for 4.6..7.7 than November 2016, or for the other two 64 bit versions, 4.6.6.1 and 4.01 (not sure what the version differences are), that could help.  I have license keys for these other 2 versions, but I don't have those versions, and even if I did, I'm not sure my license keys for those perhaps have not expired too. Darn!  Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi Peter The bk files have to be renamed to .eco in order to open them. they are backups of your data files. the ecco.cfg, ecco.cfx and ecco.alm files will be on your system somewhere. You have to search all directories. I should have thought of that one when you called today! (duh... old age) Anyway, ecco.alm can be safely deleted - if it is causing problems, ecco will recreate it when you open. One of the other two files contain your toolbar and filters and such. You will want to rename them by adding .old on the file. Then try to run ecco. If it runs, it will create these files again, not necessarily in the same directory. To an earlier point you raised, the setup32.exe file should work in Win10 64, I think. I can't remember if I just migrated over from Win 7 64 bit or not? Maybe that was it. I think you can still run the installer, but perhaps someone else has more up to date info on that.

Thanks for the suggestions Kerry.  Unfortunately a search for ECCO.cfg, ECCO.alm files returns no results.  The ECCO related files I have are .eco, ecb, ecg, and bk1, bk2.  When I try to open the bk files it returns an error message that can't find.  Moving all these files to the C root directory yields the same result.
