My first copy of ECCO came with the "Arabesque" name on the manual.  That
was decades ago.

 

I came across an old email (from 2008) suggesting there had been some
concern that Netmanage might revoke the license (under which all of us are
able to use ECCO for free).  I have the vaguest recollection from those days
and earlier.  Something fishy was going on in the board rooms of big players
in the PIM industry, at least that's what many of us thought.  

 

ECCO is still - as far as I am concerned - the best and most versatile
outliner out there.  For years I have used it to build and maintain a
docketing system tailored to my own needs.  I'm going to be in great
distress and a state of mourning if and when it no longer runs on available
operating systems.
