A word of appreciation:
As I wrote earlier, Google Groups is, in fact, a commercial front end
for the classic internet service known as "Newsgroups" or "Usenet," that
was formerly offered free, via direct connection, by most internet
providers. The same content is still accessible, still current, via paid
subscription over the Web. I object to Google Groups, as I object to all
of Google's businesses: Google is a surveillance machine, and I respect
my own privacy too much to have anything to do with them (except for
YouTube).
I took a look at Groups.io, and I like what I saw. Rare on the Web, my
Firefox ad and privacy extensions reveal zero trackers and zero adverts.
Groups.io is trustworthy. So rare on the Web, Groups.io does not screw
around with its users. This is mighty impressive.
I opt for us to explore Groups.io further!
