hi Fer,
You were right - its the security measures.
After trying some desperate moves I read in forums, I found that all you
had to do was change a setting in the project properties (I use VSE13), so
the linker sets the "requestedExecutionLevel" in the manifest file to
"asInvoker" instead of "requireAdministrator" which is the default.
I don't know what other repercussions this may have so I'll try it for a
while.
What I don't understand is what kind of security this provides if someone
can just bypass it so easily.
