There's been plenty of people commenting on Windows 7 already, but surprisingly, nobody has referenced this: http://blogs.msdn.com/ricom/archive/2009/05/31/visual-studio-2010-performance-part-1-startup.aspx There's a part 2 as well; Rico is (or should be) pretty well known for being full-boat gonzo insane about performance and optimizations. I've been pretty impressed by VS2010 (beta) - it's performance is hard to really nail down, but it doesn't feel worse than 2008. Mind you, I don't have any real problems with 2008, so I'm not a great source of data for complaints. I'd probably be fussier if I had huge C++ projects going, but those days are gone for me, I think. Herb.
