Sorry I haven't used it for anything the size or scope of a book (or even a chapter). Just for 1000-3000 word articles. Seems to work ok, if you both start from the same core document. For something the scope of a book though... I'm not sure I trust tools w/ binary formats. Little glitches seem to creep in, and are hard to get rid of. Might be best to settle on an HTML editor that you both don't hate -- then you can checkin as text file... and keep all the binary images (screenshots etc) as separate files. Now, maybe winword is that HTML editor.
