It's because you're not an engineer, or if you are, you've never used a
drafting program. We have people that still use large (ArchD sized) tablets
for drafting. You need the precision. A tablet gives you all the advantages
of a touch, but with absolute pin-point control. A mouse can approximate
that pretty well; a finger can't. Not to say that there wouldn't be some
use for a touch pad, but I'm not seeing it for that kind of work.
