I'm late to this thread -- having just gotten around to installing Win8
this past weekend.

Most of the big changes to the shell happened after I left MS...  exactly 2
years ago this week.   (Either that, or they kept many of these changes a
highly compartmentalized secret...  which, I'm sure they must have done, at
some point.)

I'm running dual 1600x1200 monitors in portrait-mode, and it seems to
handle that fine.   I like the way they've equated the mouse-wheel with
sideways-swiping, in the Metro UI.

The mousing-into-the-corners thing is very weird (and somewhat unusable in
a multi-mon arrangement).

But [Win+C] to bring up the clock + search/share/device bar seems to solve
that complaint, for the rhs corners.

[Win+Tab] or [Alt+Tab] still work, for the lhs corners.

Also, there's a crufty little [Win+X] popup menu, for quick access to some
power-user items.   (Used to bring up Mobility Center, on laptops, so not
sure what replaces that...)

The most surprising thing to me is how difficult they've made it to shut
down (or sleep/hibernate).   I can't even count the clicks, or maybe I just
don't know the shortcut?   I find myself doing [Win+R] rundll32.exe
powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Suspend.   (My pc doesn't have an easily
accessible sleep button.)

Scratch that -- the biggest surprise is that my CLR v2 and v3 apps don't
run, out of the box.  Wtf.  :-(

So, if Win7 SP2 comes out with the same updated driver coverage, device
discovery, integrated virus scanning, etc, I will probably go back.
