They invested a ton of time on integrating XAML into the platform and the only reason to have done that is to continue to support the WPF =93inspired=94 (it=92s almost identical in m= any ways) stack they=92ve created with the WinRT UI APIs. If they really do expect that though, I think they=92re going to be in for = a rude awakening =91cause any polls/discussions I=92ve ever seen have most pe= ople intending to write their Windows Store apps with C#/.NET. Heck, even the C++ people will build their apps using the XAML/WinRT UI APIs, so language really doesn=92t matter here and we should expect that those APIs will be a perfectly viable and evolving stack for all of us for a long, long time*.
