Ok.

Searching this list, I found that mimicking Windows key with a combination of keys seems to involve KeyTrap, and even with it seems overly complicated and has some caveats (like, apparently, the inability to use the new Windows key as a hotkey and as a modifier simultaneously).

So I found a much simpler way that works for me.

I remapped back Caps Lock to Windows key and got my Caps Lock functionality by setting the Caps Lock key to Alt + Num Lock.

For the record, the command is just *Keys {nowaitmods}{sinp}{cl}.

Works flawlessly and instantaneously.
