There may be a potential workaround to that ... someone wrote the following= from another group re how they handled the transfer of resources from the = Yahoo groups to the free https://groups.io/ alternative: "Apparently this can still be done (they claim so at least), but it costs $= 110 per group. Instead I created a free _ _ _ group and uploaded the backu= ps I had made (zipped) to the files area. That should be accessible to anyo= ne who joins the group." (?) The operative word here is, of course, "should". But a Files area is a fil= es area and why provide one it if that's not its purpose ... I also went to a newly-created group on groups.io and found this informatio= n listed for it which gives a view on the services for it. Though one can'= t be sure from this if it applies to all free groups one can create, if it'= s good for one, seems reasonable to believe that it's the same for all free= groups, one would expect: "Group Settings =B0 All subscribers can post to the group. =B0 Posts to this group do not require approval from the moderators. =B0 Messages are set to reply to group. v Subscriptions to this group require approval from the moderators. =B0 Archives are visible to subscribers only. =B0 Wiki is visible to subscribers only. =B0 Members can edit their messages. =B0 Members can set their subscriptions to no email." Looks like there may not be a need for too much moderation beyond the subsc= ription phase for new members. And, historically-speaking, I've seen that = users come forward to alert mods re issues, so "policing" groups seems to u= sually also have help beyond the mods, haven't you found? HTH, at any rate! <g> :oD ----- Original Message ----- From: "brucexs-/[email protected] [power-pro]" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Date: 20 Oct 2019 17:13:43 +0000 Subject: [power-pro] Re: Migrating Group Before December 14, 2019 > I had a quick look at groups.io and it charges $110 for transferring file= s.
