I'm inclined to agree.  When geOShell first came out (1998?) most people
were still using Windows 95 and generally had very limited CPU power and
RAM.  Therefore the idea of a shell that used less memory than Explorer
did was really appealing.

Of course, things have moved on significantly and - while maybe not the
form - P4 3.0 GHz systems with 1GB or more RAM are not uncommon.  Given
this, the fact that you can save 20 or so MB of RAM when running an alt
shell to Explorer doesn't have quite the same appeal - especially when so
much of Windows functionality seems to be tied up with Explorer now.

From my point of view, Explorer does do everything I want it to, but -
being a coder at heart - I'm always looking at it from the 'oh, I wish it
did this better' point of view.  And I still find myself looking at
snapshots of OS X and thinking, hmmm - that _does_ look nice...  ;-)
