Sure, when I get around to it (the whole reason I've been off this list 
is because I am working 2 full time jobs, I do miss my litestep stuff). 
It is pretty simple:
my world file (kept clean with http://catmur.co.uk/gentoo/udept)
a perl script that removes the kde and oo lines from my world file, runs 
emerge -uD world and then puts them back in
another perl script that removes everything except kde and oo, runs 
emerge -uD world, then puts them back in
(it works, I don't know if it is exactly the right way to do it)

As for the compilation errors, pretty much I ignore them (they are 
actually quite rare in stable). I output the results of the emerge to a 
file in my /logs/mm.dd.yyyy/emerge.list file (/logs is a root level 
directory I create on my system to store logfiles) in case I want to 
look at them.
