@Elliot: I don't normally bother to argue, but I am really sick of hearing
"hurrrrrr you didn't use the new awesome distro hurrrrr" from Linux fanboys.
I'm a *computer engineer *and have a server *in my freaking house*. It's
linux OS based, and uses virtual partitions to host multiple OS's (I use a
thin client model *in my house*). I have practically every Linux distro
available through virtual environments on my PC (I do a lot of tech
support), MOST of my software is linux-based (very few computers I fix are
bootable), *and I used linux for 1 year as my desktop OS.* I can definitely
say that, yes, linux is a *toy*. It's a very specialized and lightweight
toy, but it's NOT a good desktop OS because the linux community *still
doesn't admit that it's a toy*. If I have to fight something for general-use
productivity, I am not going to use that program. Worst part is that
*all*of the GUI's available for linux have worse human interface
guidelines than
any other OS. *Except windows 7*. I'd use a Mac before I would use Linux  OR
windows 7 as my desktop OS. My favorite case of Linux-brand failure was when
the package manager could not update in a distro *because whoever was in
charge of updating the public key hadn't done so 3 months after it had
expired*.

The rest of you calling Windows 7 "so awesome" compared to Windows XP are
missing the point entirely. No, windows 7 is not awesome, *and goes out of
its way to bury backward compatibility* *for the opposite of awesome*.
Windows 7 is egomaniacal to the point of deleting the classic start menu
scheme. Their own theme is so horrible they added a search bar! That's not
an improvement on a GUI, that's GIVING UP on the GUI! Everything is
organized in a significantly more confusing manner than ever before, and as
I interact with hundreds of users monthly (I fix computers) I know for a
fact that *the average user hates the GUI too!* Everyone uses the search
bar! Then you have the wonderful dialog that pops up when you do a
copy->move. Remember the simple and eloquent "Do you want to replace this
file? Y/N"? Well, for your viewing PLEASURE (and to refresh your memory),

That is not an exception, that's the rule. So you can all enjoy your ride to
the bottom of the stairs, I'm staying with windows XP x64 and LiteStep until
SOMEONE comes up with an OS worth using that can be customized as much as
LiteStep.
