First, thanks to all for kind help.
All the suggestions have already been applied, but to be sure I re-applied the patches:
- latest WTL 8.1 from the trunk (Rev 404)
- upgraded from IE7 to IE8
- registry policy fix for IE8
- cleaned out generated wizard files in vcprojects/
- re-applied setup90.js.
No joy.
When I run the IE8 on, say default.html, the page details shows that the ProjWiz object (add-in) loaded OK, so that part is ok. I used the ProcMon windows utility to see what keys VS2008 was getting stuck on, but no real leads. I double checked files generated in vcprojects for paths, parameters, looks ok.
Some way of logging VS2008 would be neat, I think I tried the /log when starting devenv/VS2008 and it only shows start-up logs, not continuously.
Anyway if this works for everybody else then I'll just focus on the interactions any other software in my system may have with VS2008, but the weird detail that only the WTL wizard fails kinda bothers me.
