RE: Is this a bug I see before my eyes?

Hi Rob,

 

The decision seemed the right one, at the time. Since there were never many
complaints about that, I never thought that I should change something there.

 

Sometimes somebody has to be the government, for better or for worse. The
difference is that I count on developers to complain or provide better
solutions, or simply discuss things. Just like you did.

I can see the reasoning behind that, but was it justified in the light
of the WTL interface being so close to MFC? I wouldn't want to make a
big issue out of this, as the WTL is such a well respected component of
the Windows/C++ environment.

As more of an aside---it just seems odd that the decision of how
to use the OnIdle facility should be moved away from the application
developer, to the tool (yes I know the developer can subvert that
decision). It's almost as if you didn't trust the developers as a body.

We used to have a government that didn't like the way a tiny minority
might risk harming themselves, doing some particular activity, so they
tried to make it difficult for the whole electorate to do that activity, 
or even banned it. They got kicked out at the last election. :-)

Thanks to your efforts, WTL is too valuable a tool to let that happen.
