Hi Ивалин,

/var/log/lightdm/x-*.log showed no issues.

I spent about 16 hours troubleshooting this.
Erased the .ICE* files and all kinds .x* stuff.

The bummer is that I got it working for one time,
then back to the endless loop.

I even had a working fc39 mate iso in
a virtual machine and compared the differences.
No joy.

The issues is no doubt a bad call to xinit,
although they were the same as the VM.
And I am doubtful it is a .config issue either as
they all perfectly matched the VM.

lxdm is so, so very easy to use, I am kicking
myself for not looking for alternatives sooner.

By the way, I have three other Fedora Xfce Mate
computers without the issue.
