Open source driver

Hello,

I burned my graphic card ATi 9600 yesterday then I would like to buy a new one. Could you tell me what is  a good investment ? I am looking for card that are open source                                             driver. Some card are proprietary driver (such as my old ATi 9600) then the driver will not longer available in the future.

I am looking for old brand, not the last fashion graphic card because performance is not my expectation.
