These constant arguments of things being unnecessary because someone thinks
most people don't need them make little sense - someone needs them, and the
cost to everyone else of having them is not that great.

By that logic, 90% of the computers in the world don't use Linux, so it's
unnecessary and should be scrapped immediately.  90% of the people in the
world don't speak Italian, so it's unneccassary as well - we'll pull all the
italian localization support from Linux & XFree86 while you convince everyone
in Italy to speak only English.   And just because no one uses something now,
does not mean it's of little benefit in the future - 10 years ago 99.9% of
computers were not connected to the Internet, but fortunately those who were
improved things for those who had not yet discovered it.

Last I checked Xrender was an extension to the core renderer to speed up
operations not well handled in the core, but did not replace many common
operations the core handles just fine.

Xlib has been thread-safe since X11R6 was released almost a decade ago.
And it's used millions of times a day by a wide variety of applications.

I personally find WINE useless and X11 network transparency essential.  The
existing model allows both of us to get our work done - yours benefits you and
people like you to the detriment of all others.
