Mark - the question this leaves open for me is the earlier point I
made, and I think others also made, that there really isn't anything
other than implementation.

I'm not sure what you have in mind as the contrast with
implementation, I guess. If you fill in the blank "implementation
vs. ____" then what is in the blank?
