Not really. 

Of course applications running in "native" Xft mode and application
running with STSF/Xft bridge will look identical to the end user,
provided STSF uses the same FreeType scaler that Xft is using.

However, as we previously discussed client-side and server-side font
rendering framework have different properties in terms of performance
and memory use.

Whether system administrators (and vendors) configure applications
to use one or another framework will be deternined by these 
differences.
