I do not think it takes very long to compile the entire tree on my Athlon
1900 machine. I have not timed this last time but it was definitely not
more than a couple of hours, likely less than an hour.
And, today, there are much faster machines than this. Using 1.5 hours per
compile this yields 16 compiles per day per computer. Should be enough to
cover common architectures.
