I think we are all aware of these problems by know.

I have not said 'core team', I have said team.
I'm really surprised about your obsession about the
core team. How do you think people got on the core
team? By making contributions! But according to you
you cannot make a signifficant contribution when
you are not on the core team. 
I have made most of my most prominent contributions 
to XFree86 without being on the core team or having 
commit access. I know others who did, too.
