I have mixed feelings at this point -- if people still feel the need to 
have this done, I'll be happy to help.  On the other hand, so many 
people are "coming out of the closet" and offering to change and be 
helpful (like Steve Swales), I'm not sure there is any point to 
figuring out who struck John.

From this distance, one additional thing might be to offer Keith Packard 
his position back on the XFree core team (which he might or might not 
accept), and then just shake hands and get on with the changes (and 
discussion).
