"Drivers? We don't need no stinking..."

How the @#$& can people write/fix drivers when they cannot obtain the 
required register-level documentation for the graphics chips?

The issue of who has commit access, and which corpse is taking up freezer
space where, is secondary is it not?  As is arguing about all the nice
spiffy bloatware gadgetry everybody and his second cousin wants to pile 
on top of what is already one very *large* project...
