Basically ISO makes the standards non-free in both senses (freedom and beer). 
In addition ISO is _very_ slow in updating their standards.
Taking part in ISO standardization is very time consuming and very expensive.


yes, ISO is only good for static things . Not for these evolving
developments like X , or any GUI .
