Don't think about what your Linux Distribution includes/included.
There is lots of third-party applications developed either inhouse or by
ISVs that use Motif.  Motif was and still is for a while _the_ standard
toolkit for commercial development.  With Sun's recent move and Linux
becoming more important this might change to gtk - but that's a _very_
_very_ long way.
