Thanks to all who helped. I have the converse problem now. How to I tell firefox that when I click in a mailto link to open thunderbird for me? --Ayan

From: Doug Barton <[email protected]>
To: sujit sinha <[email protected]>
CC: [email protected]
Subject: Re: [wm-user] thunderbird
Date: Fri, 16 Sep 2005 23:55:04 -0700
sujit sinha wrote:
>Hello All,
>
>I can't donfigure thunderbird in the sense that if someone sends me
>a http link with the email then if Iclick it nothing happens. Shut down thunderbird, and create a file called user.js in your ~/.thunderbird/*.default/ directory with the following entries:

user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.https", "firefox");

Then start thunderbird, and as long as firefox is in the same path, you should be fine.

You can read about other things you can modify this way by searching for "mozilla user.js".
