You mean the icon stays white? I haven't had this happening for a long
time now and I can't remember why this happens.

This is the normal behaviour.

The app is started from a shell script, but the binary's app name
differs from the shell script. Window Maker relies on knowing the app
name to hidden the three dots. The absence of the three dots means that
the app in running.
