wmaker and GNOME: focus desktop only as last choice

Hi!

I recently installed GNOME and replaced metacity with wmaker (after
running wmaker-only for years).
Now I have the problem that when I switch workspaces, sometimes the
desktop window gets the focus although there are other windows opened on
the current workspace.
Can I somehow tell wmaker to allow the desktop to get the focus only
when there's no other (focusable) window on the current workspace?
I don't want to set "Unfocusable = Yes;" to the desktop.
