Hi Kathryn,

I will be editing your owner review on your Esbit Alcohol Burner stove. First, I would like to thank you for submitting it and also to apologize for having you wait for so long to have it reviewed. We try to get to these sooner, but sometimes life gets in the way.

So, here are your edits in the usual format of…

 EDIT – must change

Edit – my recommended change if you agree

 Comment – is just that.

 “Listed Weight: NA”

EDIT – The MFG website for this product states the weight at 92 g. Check the little “DATA” icon for additional product information.

 “Measured Diameter:”

EDIT - There are also dimensions provided on the website under the “DATA” icon so please add a heading for [Listed Dimensions].

“The main body of the stove is constructed from 3 pieces pieces of metal with…”

EDIT – one too many “pieces”

“I can't tell for sure, but there are three small holes at the bottom of the inner wall and it looks like there might be threads of something in the space between the inner and outer walls.”

Comment – under Product Description, I wouldn’t expect this kind of detail and instead, I’d be looking for what is this thing you tested, what is it intended for, what are the components and maybe a basic description of its construction. I commend your effort in trying to add a lot of detail, but as in this sentence, it isn’t really noteworthy. Additional photographs are ALWAYS helpful, especially in areas of the product that one might have difficulty in describing. IMHO

If you wish to keep this, then

Edit – there might be threads [or] something

“Alcohol is poured into a large opening in the ceter of the stove and the fuel vapors are lit on fire.”

 EDIT – spelling of [center]

“Before long vapor pressure builds up in the outer chamber and the pressurized fuel vapor shoots out of the jets and burns.”

EDIT – remove the extra space before [burns.]

“As noted in the directions, 2.5 oz is typically enough to cook for about 30 minutes and we bring an appropriate amount for the cooking we plan to do. To use the burner, I take off both the flame regulator and the storage cap, fill the stove about 2/3 full…”

EDIT – need the metric conversions for 2.5 oz and 2/3 full

“I am very careful to pay attention when lighting the stove as the flames of alcohol are not visible and it is easy to not notice/forget the it is burning.”

EDIT – “forget [that] it is burning.”

“I love this stove and I am willing to carry the extra weight of the wood stove to have a reliable and sturdy stand and a backup option of cooking with wood if necesary.”

 EDIT – spelling of [necessary]

“Also, since you can mix water in the with alcohol according to the directions there is no harm if a little rain makes it into the stove before the pot is there to shield it.”

EDIT – remove [the] - Also, since you can mix water in [the] with…”

“I have not noticed any affect of heat, humidity, or elevation on the performance of this burner in the conditions I have used it [in].”

EDIT – remove the final [in] as it is redundant. It should then read - I have not noticed any affect of heat, humidity, or elevation on the performance of this burner in the conditions I have used it.

“I have also used this burner to cook all sort of things including pancakes, cinnamon rolls, pizza, pasta, couscous and soup and have always been pleased by it's performance.”

 EDIT – sorts (plural)

EDIT – [it’s] is short for it is. [Its] shows possession. So this should read as “and have always been pleased by [its] performance.”

“It is sturdier, burns for longer, is hotter, and generally less fussy than the pop-can alcohol stove I made years ago.”

 EDIT – remove [for]

“It is cleaner and much easier than my wood stove.”

Comments – This is the first time you mention it being cleaner… curious to know about your experiences with soot build up common with alcohol stoves. Also, what type/s of alcohol did you use as there are many different types of alcohol that can be used for fuel and this would be valid information for us when deciding if we want one too, which should be higher up in the report. It is’t until we get to the very last two words in your summary that are “denatured alcohol”. Additionally, do or did you use 70% or 90%? Did you happen to follow or try the mfg recommendation of diluting the alcohol to water ratio 9-1 to help reduce soot?

 “jet boil”

EDIT – you use this numerous times within your report. Since this is both a patented product as well as a brand name, you need to list it as Jetboil in each instance. One word, capitalized J.

So that was all I found – Go ahead and upload once you’re ready.

Thank you again for your OR submission!

You can upload it to the BGT website by following this path to your folder…
