I have a lot of difficulty in keeping my fingers and toes warm so I have so=
me suggestions that I have had success with. Maybe one or more might be hel=
pful to you.
=20=20=20
- First thing is I carry a thick pair of warm dry socks just for sleepin=
g. I don't put them on until I am going to bed. Even a little moisture on m=
y feet or in my socks can make a huge difference. (If you need to dry the s=
ocks you wear during the day, put them next to your core, or wear them as m=
ittens while you sleep.)=20=20=20
- Filling a water bottle with warm or hot water and warming up the foot =
of my sleeping bag before I get in seems to work well. I have found if my f=
eet are cold when I get in my bag it can be almost impossible to warm them =
up.=20=20=20
- A trick that I learned a number of years ago (don=E2=80=99t recall fro=
m where) is to sleep on an incline with my feet slightly elevated above my =
head. The idea is that heat rises and if the foot of my bag is the lowest p=
oint it will also be the coldest. If the incline is too much I will awake w=
ith a nasty headache, so this takes a bit of trial and error to find the be=
st angle.=20=20=20
- For short trips (1-2 nights) I will sometimes cheat and carry a few se=
ts of chemical hand warmers.=20=20=20
- Being even slightly dehydrated can make it difficult to stay warm. So =
try to stay hydrated. A warm drink before bed serves double duty.=20=20=20
