Heh, I know the feeling, I've gotten many responses of "but it's so hot" or
"enjoy the heat" The heat doesn't bother me too much, it's more of the bugs
here that I disagree with. Unfortunately it'll be a few years before I can
move (school) and believe me we're ready to get out of here.

I've found a few semi-local groups and have been on there, but for the most
part they aren't too active.. all activities are ultimate Frisbee and
paddling events (which look interesting but I haven't the first clue about)
