Until we lost it by forgetting where the cache was, we used wood and white-gas stoves for cooking our rice. The pressure cooker was heavy. It also cooked enough rice for about 6 people. We did use it in a base-camp-like situation (hence the cache). It was never replaced. Now that we don't have it, the rice gets cooked in the ordinary way over a wood fire or gas stoves. If it's just me or my husband, we rehydrate rice that we bought or dehydrated ourselves. Cooking, dehydrating, and rehydrating takes more total energy, but makes things much easier and lighter when traveling. CL
