The thing about a Nook or Kindle is that buying and loading books is pretty much transparent. I go onto the Barnes & Noble web site, buy a book, turn on my Nook, and it shows up ready to download when I turn on the WiFi. Hit the "Download" icon, and it downloads and is ready to read. Amazon's Kindle works pretty much the same way. And at least with the Nook, I can use Calibre to side-load "foreign" epubs too. Unfortunately the Nook and Kindle aren't available in many places outside the US...
