By itself over a lightweight baselayer it's probably good to around 40-45F, adding a shell adds another 10-15F to that. I have the parka version and love it. I've worn this jacket to around 45F alone over a polyester t-shirt and it was okay with a warm cap. I think my fleece shirt adds about 20-25F to the temperature range of whatever is layered over it (I regularly wear the fleece shirt over the polyester t-shirt plus the shell in temperatures down to around 40F with reasonable comfort as long as I'm wearing a warm hat), so this seems like a good reason why I was reasonably comfortable at 20F while not being super-active (I was taking lots of photos) but still not sitting around camp. (Do note that I was wearing a *very* warm ski hat too, and when the wind started blowing deployed the hood of my shell). > BTW, it runs kind of tight. If you're not built on the thin/light frame side you'll likely be better off going up one size vs. what you might wear in a marmot, north face, mountain hardwear, etc. Another good point. In my case I bought this as part of a layering system with another layer over it in the most extreme weather, so being a bit on the tight side wasn't a problem (the other layers *are* a size up). But if you're wanting to wear it over other layers thicker than my fleece shirt, definitely may want to go a size up unless, as mentioned, you are really skinny. (Which I'm not, sigh!).
