I got a Kindle (the basic model) and a Sony, BOTH for Christmas. So I have to decide which one to return. On perhaps the most essential criterion, weight, they're for all intents and purposes the same (within a few tenths of an ounce by my measure). Next most important issue (not most important, because I expect to mostly use the thing for backpacking) is content availability. Sony giver says you can get tons of free stuff from many libraries. Dunno if that applies to Kindle too, but then of course there's Amazon's lending library. Thanks for helping me decide ! John
