Re: Klymit Inertia X-Frame

I can't say as to whether it is effective with a quilt or not, but all things being considered, its effectiveness I think is limited.  I wanted to believe all of the hype about this particular product.  I bought one from a trusted vendor.  I am not the world's most careful person, but with this item, I thought, I had better do my best to keep it safe.  With that in mind, I used it inside of my montbell sleeping bag, and I believe I used it as well with my zpack hybrid bag/quilt.  

I got a hole I think after the third use, and like I said, I was extra careful.  The Klymit folks are excellant at customer service, took the pad back and fixed it, but the very next trip it was flat again and when i went to fix it myself, not only were there holes close to the original spot, another spot developed holes.  My thinking is that the down feathers themselves may have poked the holes.  

I can't argue the customer service, but to me, as pricy as they are, they should hold up much, much better.  Another friend of mine has had the same problem.  My thoughts are this on inertia and other products that get stellar reviews across the board.  When the items are new and people are discovering them, I think people tend to go overboard with how great they are, for instance the Sawyer Water Filter, and then, a year or two later, go back and read the reviews, not quite so bright and positive.  I personally wouldn't buy another one, unless it was from REI or some such place that has a return at any time.
