Sorry if I wasn't clear.   No, I have not tried the Therm-a-Rest bag yet (and though REI has it in-stock for mail-order sales, they do not have it in stores to try out).   I am considering purchasing it and was asking for recommendations; I can't even find an online review.

As far as personal preferences, yes, sleeping tent-less in the desert, I am not comfortable with a quilt or blanket, because of wind and creepy crawlies.
