Tyvek groundcloth - another option

For years I have used the Home Wrap type of Tyvek.
Yes, at first it's noisy but after putting it through the washer and then the dryer with tennis balls and a week on the trail it becomes very pliable and quite while lasting for months. (I have both 3 ft and 9 ft rolls and use it to make prototypes of homemade gear)
I always put the printed side down next to the ground and have never had a problem of moisture on my side of the Tyvek even with the underside was dripping wet in the morning.

This year on the PCT (Campo to Big Bear miles 0 to 260) I used a 1/8" closed cell foam 82" x 39" to have better protection from SoCal's cactus thorns (I use a NeoAir) and it worked great. It weighed 5oz and I had rounded the corners to fit in my Wild Oasis tent on the occasion I was not cowboy camping .... great system.

After ADZPCTKO (Kick Off) I switched to an Infinity X-frame sleeping pad saving 5 oz with pump.

I'm a side sleeper and the x-frame was quite comfortable once I got the air pressure just right. It really surprised me and got some very good nights sleep on it. I've used this combo for about 10 nights.

I will go back to the Tyvek when not in the desert to save pack weight and size and as conditions deserve my respect.
