London already has Cycling Super Highways, and I rode one (CS7) this summer.

Like the ones planned for Copenhagen they follow the main roads for faster
and more direct routes (think Collage Ave, not even Telegraph). They
couldn't be built here in US they're too much of a compromise! Outside peak
hours trucks and other delivery vehicles can be parked in them (limited
spots and times), and at all times they are shared with buses. All the same,
the one I took largely worked. The blue colored route clearly shows you the
way, but you don't have to ride in it; and with a truck parked in it you
cannot. Strategic, sections of bike-lanes and bike boxes at signals give
bikes an advantage, but sharing is the name of the game. The only place the
system really fails is at the large multi-laned roundabouts- this just
aren't meant for bikes and critics say the system is making cyclists think
otherwise- with fatal results.
