Cyclists, BART has released the DRAFT results of a randomized survey on the August 1012 bike pilot project. Press release and access to the PDF here: http://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2012/news20120928.aspx The results are mixed and there are some intriguing apparent inconsistencies between the different responses. BART will be adjusting the responses a small amount to match the demographics of its ridership base but the final numbers should not change the overall results much. BART staff is busy processing lots of information and feedback gained during the bike pilot, and will be presenting a variety of policy and procedural recommendations to the BART Board of Directors for their consideration in November or December. The BART Bicycle Advisory Task Force meets this coming Monday, October 1, 6-8 PM, at 101 Eighth Street in Oakland (MTC/ABAG/Joseph P Bort Metro Center) to evaluate and discuss the bike pilot. http://www.bart.gov/about/bod/advisory/bicycle/index.aspx 101-Eightht Street is across the street from Lake Merritt BART. The public is welcome and bikes are allowed inside the building. Currently, there are bike blackout periods of about two hours during peak weekday commute times in which bikes are not allowed on some trains. Any proposed changes would need to go to the Board of Directors for consideration.
