Hi David,,, Yes the great glen cycleway is I would say
the hardest route I have so far done, the hills!!,
with a bike carrying tent + gear you will be pushing
so do'nt wear cycling shoes like I did. still managed
in two days but with the midges and the climbing I
dont know if I would again, but did I mention  the
Fort Austus chip shop worth the pain just for there
fish.
Route 7, perth to Inverness 130 odd miles not to bad
some climbing but slow and gradual, some truely great
wild camping in the deeper glens. The path would be
alright for a tourer, u dont need a mountain bike,
only anoying thing is all the little bridges, all
designed to slow you down. could be done over two days
but it means a long sunday with maybe 80 miles plus,
but again Fort William has a pretty cool chip
shop(pattern forming here), with the longest climb at
the end.
